About to be Taken to a Dreamworld of Magic

One day, a month or so ago, my dad comes up to me and says, "Hey, Barry, you wanna go to Disneyland in April?"

Who says no to that? I don't.

Pros: Sunny California, Theme Parks, and nothing forges a bond between father and son like watching pirates fight.

Cons: Too much In'N'Out? Loss of equilibrium after the 20th time on the Tower of Terror?

The only real downside to the whole thing would be if Dad wants to go on the Pinnochio ride. Ugghh. Dad really loves the classics. Pinnochio, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Snow White. He loves them all. Last time we went to Disneyland, Tyler and I humored him and went on the Alice in Wonderland ride. I walked out of that ride feeling gay and disoriented, and swore that I'd never do it again. Any ride that involves a little car moving at a child's walking pace through painted plywood sets is off limits to me. It's just not my thing. I don't care how much money the damn cartoon made. It's NOT MY THING.

The only Fantasyland ride with any merit whatsoever is this one...

We in Switzerland now, Bi***es.

If Dad really wants to, I'll go on Mr. Toad with him. After all, it does move a little faster and you end up in hell in the end, complete with hot air and devils and such. So it's a little more badass than the other rides.

I draw the line there, though.

  4. SOOOO JEALOUS!!!! I won't lie though, I appreciate the classic rides... Maybe I should have gone instead. jk BUT I mean come on!!! These rides are critical, especially to young children. For example, It's a Small World teaches (aka forces) tolerance and patience... the world definitely needs more of that.

  5. Next time I go it will be with a grandchild attached to my hand. Thanks for keeping dad company, you're a good sport!
What IS the manliest ride at Disneyland?...the yo-hoing pirates and wenches of Pirates of the Caribbean? The Matterhorn..I don't know, the embroidered lederhosen kinda fem it up, maybe Space Mtn... what do you think?
